Glastonbury Care Home is delighted to share the release of their inspiring single, ‘I See You’ by Paul Denegri.
The song was written, produced, performed and funded entirely by professional musician Paul Denegri. Paul has volunteered at our Glastonbury Care Home for a year, bringing smiles to residents by playing music for them in group and one-to-one bedside music sessions.
While Christmas is a time to come together, many care home residents have no family or friends coming in to visit. Paul will bring music to the bedsides of residents as a continuation of a unique initiative that has touched the hearts of residents and care staff alike.
The song also marks the launch of the ‘I See You’ Community Social Fund, aiming to raise money for elderly care residents who live without the funds to afford basics such as new clothes, toiletries and haircuts – often relying on the generosity of the frontline care staff or charitable donations.
Paul aspires to not only raise money for elderly residents in need with the Community Social Fund, but to encourage and support musicians – whether professional or amateur – to volunteer at their local care homes and spread the cheer, comfort and community of live music to those in the last chapter of their lives.
Paul was inspired to produce the song and video after realising the profound effect music can have, especially with the elderly.
Through the emotional connection of music, they can find comfort opening a connection with their community, relieving loneliness and boredom, finding enjoyment, discovering new friendships and having peace of mind.
Paul said: “I looked around and saw how happy the carers and residents were. There is always so much love and care. I thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness for the 24/7 care that so many in our community need. I knew that the residents and staff would be so excited to be involved.”
Paul and the team at Glastonbury Care Home filmed a music video to accompany the song, with residents and colleagues getting involved to show what life is like at the home.
The ‘I See You’ song and video were officially released on Thursday 1st December alongside the Community Social Fund.
Edwin Jose, Glastonbury Care Home Manager, said: “Paul is a volunteer with us, he has brought his musical skills into the home which has enriched the lives of so many here, especially the residents confined to their rooms. Everyone enjoyed being part of the film. Thank you, Paul, for this inspiring project.”
Sandra Payne, Head of Nursing and Clinical Excellence, said: “The video and song are lovely, and we are really grateful to Paul for doing this for Glastonbury Care Home. A huge thank you to all involved, particularly the residents, for being the film stars and sharing their home while filming took place.”
