The annual event, which was held at Ashton Gate Stadium on Thursday 26 Sept, celebrates excellence among care professionals who are working across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

Marion Watson, Senior Care Assistant at Robinson House Care Home won the Care Home Front Line Award. Lesley Hobbs, Manager at Deerhurst Care Home was the winner of the Care Home Manager Award, and Jan Lesundak, a Community Carer for our South Gloucestershire Home Care service, was a finalist for the Community Care and Front Line Nursing Award.

Marion, winner of the Care Home Front Line Award, took home the title after receiving a glowing nomination about her passion for care and her expertise in end of life care. Marion has been in the care sector for more than three decades and has worked at Brunelcare for 30 years.

Christine Halleron, Manager at Robinson House Care Home said: Marion is a true winner and deserves to be recognised for her amazing achievements at Robinson House. We would like to thank Marion for all of her hard work and dedication. We would be lost without you!”

Lesley Hobbs also took home gold after winning the Care Home Manager Award because of her ‘unwavering dedication to the residents and employees at Brunelcare.’ She was nominated for the award by the entire team at Deerhurst alongside a local GP who is now retired and keeps in contact with the home regularly.

Lesley Hobbs, Manager at Brunelcare’s Deerhurst Care Home, said: “I felt very proud to be nominated by the fantastic Deerhurst team & the local GP. That was reward enough, but seeing how proud and excited my colleagues were when I won made it more special. You cannot be a good manager without a fantastic team and I was proud to share it with my deputy, business manager & those who nominated me.”

Jan Lesundak, a finalist for the Community Care & Front Line Nursing Award was shortlisted due to his caring, compassionate nature and his commitment to care. Jan was commended for visiting Brunelcare clients on his days off, either at their own homes or in hospital.

Clare Hall, South Gloucestershire Operations Manager said: “Jan has a remarkable skill with supporting clients and families at the end of life where he shows compassion and empathy, going that extra mile to ensure the client’s dignity is maintained throughout. Family members comment that he becomes like part of the family, and he will even come in on days off to ensure continuity for them. This goes above and beyond what is expected.”

Both Marion Watson and Lesley Hobbs have now been submitted as Regional Finalists at the Great British Care Awards, which are taking place on November 14th.
