Little Heath Reablement Centre achieves ‘Good’ CQC rating

We are delighted to announce that our Little Heath Reablement Centre has received an overall rating of ‘Good’ in their first full Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

Little Heath achieved a ‘Good’ rating in all five areas of the inspection: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well Led, resulting in an overall rating of ‘Good’.

CQC found the reablement centre to be responsive to people’s health and social needs, putting people at the heart of the home. Key findings from the inspection included:

  • People living in the centre were safe, and safety risks were well-managed
  • Guests were empowered to achieve their goals and aspirations whilst maintaining their independence, with maximum control of their lives
  • Staff were well-trained with essential skills and knowledge and felt appreciated in their roles
  • Care and support was provided in a “safe, clean, well-equipped, well-furnished and well-maintained environment which met people’s sensory and physical needs”

The report states: “The provider’s ethos and values put people at the heart of the home. This vision was driven through the leadership of the registered manager. The staff team were empowered to contribute fully to support a person-centred model of care. This helped people to achieve their goals and aspirations whilst promoting independence.”

Little Heath Reablement opened its doors in April 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The centre played a vital role in freeing up much-needed hospital beds during COVID-19 to take pressure away from the NHS during this challenging time.

Since its opening, the team at Little Heath have worked hard to create a welcoming, safe and person-centred environment for guests to regain their confidence and independence after a hospital stay, and are delighted to receive an overall ‘Good’ rating in their CQC inspection.

Lewis Farrell, Reablement Centre Manager, said: “I am so proud that we have received a rating that reflects the exceptional work our team has produced and continues to do so. The service is a great place to work and has brilliant outcomes for our guests who stay with us. Amazing work everyone!”

Sandra Payne MBE RN, Director of Nursing & Care Services, said: “Little Heath Reablement is an amazing place! Lewis and the team have created something very special for people to experience. I am so pleased and incredibly proud of everyone involved. The Good rating consolidates all of that hard work – well done team!”
